Project Description

Third-cycle subject: Vehicle Engineering or Engineering Mechanics

The FibReLoop project, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie (MSCA) Doctoral Network, aims to advance industrial circular economy strategies for composites. Fourteen doctoral candidates will be trained across various European sites to address the entire lifecycle of composite parts, from recycling to the design and production of new components. This KTH project focuses on developing predictive models for processing composite components from recycled fiber materials, characterized by high-volume fractions of short fibers that are not fully oriented. Developing constitutive material models is crucial for describing different aspects of the manufacturing process. To account for the variability of recycled materials, the project incorporates data-driven methods augmented with high-fidelity physics-based models.

Supervision

Professor Malin Äkermo is proposed to supervise the doctoral student, with the final decision made upon admission.
