The Integrated Devices, Electronics, And Systems (IDEAS) Group at ETH Zurich invites applications for two PhD positions in the field of integrated RF/Mm-Wave circuits and systems for next-generation communication and sensing, such as 5G/6G, Space Electronics, Radar, and Imaging.
These two PhD positions focus on the design, implementation, and demonstration of integrated circuits with new circuit topologies and system architectures to advance Radio Frequency (RF), Mm-Wave, and TeraHz integrated electronics.
Potential topics of interest include:
The ETH IDEAS Group, led by Prof. Hua Wang, is a world-leading research group in the field of integrated circuits and systems for next-generation wireless communication, sensing, and various emerging technology applications. Our current and past PhD students regularly publish at flagship conferences and journals and have found career opportunities in top universities and industry.
The ETH IDEAS Group is part of the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (D-ITET). More information can be found on the group website.
These PhD positions are jointly funded by EU grants, Swiss national grants, and ETH Zurich internal funding. The research involves close collaborations with industry and university groups in Switzerland, the EU, and the US.
You will be responsible for the architecting, designing, prototyping, and testing of novel RF/mm-Wave/THz integrated circuits and/or systems using advanced IC technologies. You will also be responsible for performing packaging and building measurement setups. Additionally, you will handle project meetings, reporting, scientific publications, conference/seminar presentations, and contribute to proposal writing. Furthermore, you will facilitate teaching and occasionally deliver lectures in English at ETH Zurich.
We also value the following competencies in line with ETH Zurich’s values:
