We are the primary contact in this field for industry partners in the automotive, aerospace, space, and rail vehicle sectors within the EU. Titanium alloys require intensive further development due to their critical and strategic importance for the EU. The aspects of recycling and material circularity have been inadequately developed to date. Therefore, both materials and processing technologies need to be advanced equally.

The core topic is the resistance of materials to contamination due to secondary material, with these aspects being considered in interaction with modern manufacturing processes. You will conduct research and process investigations in the field of titanium alloy materials technologies using advanced characterization methods, particularly high-energy diffraction methods.

Light Metals Technologies Ranshofen

  • Work on industry-relevant fundamental research in material development, becoming an internationally recognized expert in titanium and its processing technologies.
  • Support project management in national and international cooperation projects, collaborating with partners from small, medium, and large industries.
  • Independently conduct scientific planning, execution, and evaluation of experiments, processing results for documentation and presentation.
  • Support applications for further projects with your expertise and know-how.
  • Publish research results both in teams and as the lead author in scientific journals, and participate in international conferences.
  • Supervise interns or master's students in your field.
  • Independently find solutions to previously unanswered research questions.
  • Actively contribute your network and perspectives on challenges to projects.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • Completed Master's degree in materials science, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, physics, or a similar field.
  • Expertise in developing test plans for process and material investigations, with a solid understanding of materials science. Experience in characterization methods, particularly electron microscopy and diffraction methods, is an advantage.
  • Interest in developing novel methods, especially in research at European large-scale research facilities. Programming skills (C++, Python, etc.) are advantageous.
  • Independent and structured working style, strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion for research and enthusiasm for unconventional solutions, creativity, and visionary thinking.
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken; German skills are an advantage.

What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary on a full-time basis (38.5 hours / week) according to the collective agreement is EUR 53,578.00. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
