Our research group, led by Professor Riitta Lahesmaa, is based at the Turku Bioscience Centre, BioCity Turku, Turku, Finland. We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher for a two-year project funded by The Finnish Research Impact Foundation. During the project, the postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to work approximately half the time with Orion in Turku, alongside Orion’s Immuno-oncology team.
Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, and the number of cases eligible for immunotherapies is steadily rising. T cells infiltrate the tumor site and launch cytotoxic responses against cancer cells. However, the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment prevents effective anti-tumor immune responses. In this project, our research group at Turku Bioscience will collaborate with Orion’s immuno-oncology team to discover novel mechanisms responsible for insufficient anti-tumor T-cell responses. Our goal is to find new ways to modulate T-cell responses and identify patients suitable for these innovative therapeutic approaches in the future. We will use a range of methods, including single-cell genomics and computational tools, to address these questions.
The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities. These positions belong to our research personnel, with a salary range of 3450 – 3800 EUR/month for a Postdoctoral Researcher. The position starts on January 1, 2025, and is initially for two years, with a possible extension. There is a six-month trial period.
Please include a CV, full publication list, list of selected publications, and contact information for three references in your application.
