The Water and Energy Program at the African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI), located at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Laayoune, is seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher specializing in the modeling, simulation, and design of agricultural greenhouses. This position is open to individuals holding a PhD in Agronomy, Thermal Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will focus on simulating, designing, and optimizing microclimate control techniques within greenhouses.
Location: Laayoune (ASARI), Morocco
Duration: The position is available for one year, with the possibility of extension for a second year (CDD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Model and simulate thermal-fluid behavior inside greenhouses.
- Conduct parametric and optimization studies to evaluate the impact of various parameters on greenhouse thermal performance.
- Contribute to the design and construction of pilot-scale greenhouses in collaboration with industrial partners.
- Install sensors, monitor conditions, and analyze data.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality and timely scientific results in accordance with research project timelines.
- Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations.
Candidate Criteria:
- Master's/Engineering degree and a PhD in Thermal/Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agronomy, or related fields.
- Excellent understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals (fluid flow, heat & mass transfer) and greenhouse phenomena (radiation, evapotranspiration, convection, photosynthesis).
- Strong background in simulation/modeling tools (CFD, TRNSYS) is essential.
- Proven track record in related research areas.
- Experience in greenhouse farming is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
